Allliant Energy has announced the recipients of their Branching Out Program, a partnership with Trees Forever to fund and implement tree-planting projects in areas they serve. Grants of up to $5,000 are available for community-based, tree-planting projects like schools, libraries and community buildings and streets. The program is meant to encourage energy efficiency, environmental awareness, and community stewardship in Iowa. Three area communities have been awarded grants this summer, the city of Eldon will receive $3000 to help with plantings around the KD Center, Washington will receive $3280 to help with plantings around the High School and Wapello has been awarded $250 to plant trees in their North Park Campground.
