Penny Witzenburg Foore (on right of picture) and her husband Roman Foore are assistant coaches for Scrap Yard Fastpitch, a professional women’s softball team based in Houston, Texas. The team opened their season in Columbus, Georgia where the first Olympic Softball games were played in 1996. At this international competition, Scrap Yard won against Puerto Rico, Peru, China and Japan, and Philippines, but lost to USA (Olympic), Mexico, Chinese Taipei and USA U-19.
From there they went to Vancouver, Canada for another International tournament. This time taking second place. They defeated Canadian Juniors, Puerto Rico, Korea, Mizuno Impulse, Chinese Taipei and Canada but lost a rematch with Canada in the final Championship game. At Lafayette, Louisiana they played Team USA 3 times and won once. We think that means from the world rankings they have beaten 5 of the top 6. For more information go to scrapyardfastpitch.com. They are playing Team USA Monday and Tuesday night at 7 with the games being broadcast over Youtube. Go to extra inning softball.
