The Fairfield varsity baseball team took the 2nd game of a Southeast Conference road doubleheader with Mount Pleasant 6-4 Monday night. Tristin Waugh (pictured) led the 10 hit offense, going 2 of 4 and drove in 4 runs. Drew Martin also finished 2 of 4. Jackson Weaton pitched the last 4 innings, totaled 3 strikeouts, allowed 2 hits and got the win. Starter Caden Jones worked 3 innings, fanned 2 batters, gave up 5 hits and 4 runs, 2 of them earned.
The Trojans lost the opener 5-3 despite a 4-3 edge in hits. Kosta Papazogolou went 1 of 2 with a double and took the loss. He pitched 4 and a third innings, had 8 strikeouts, allowed one hit and 4 runs, just one of the earned. Brittan Bowman threw 1 2/3 innings, fanned 2 batters, gave up 2 hits and one earned run.
