Fairfield took the 8th grade title during the Southeast Conference middle school girls competition Monday at Fort Madison with 166 points. They had wins from Kiya Robertson the 200 (28.2), Ashlyn Lisk the 800 (2:49.65), Mackenzie Kraemer the 1500 (5:59.51), the 4 by 100 of Coty Engle, Erin Epperson, Dalila Rodriguez and Kaitlyn Greiner (57.59) and 4 by 200 featuring Erica Myers, Ivy Larsen, Maddy Greiner and Rodriguez (2:03.31). Finishing 2nd were Emersyn Manley the discus (72-9), Robertson the 400 (1:01.12), Kraemer the 800 (2:49.94), Lisk the 1500 (6:03.88), the 4 by 400 with Ellie Shepherd, Adrianna Lyons, Mesa Canaday and Myers (4:51.56) plus the 800 meter medley made up by Willow Larsen, Epperson, Canaday and Myers (2:12.78). Washington was 2nd scoring 138.
The Fairfield 7th grade girls ended up 2nd during the conference meet at Fort Madison with 107 points. Mount Pleasant won the championship scoring 137. Trojan 1st place finishes included Savannah Hollander the 800 (2:45.89), Malena Bloomquist the 1500 (5:35.73) plus the 4 by 800 that featured Maddie Jones, Carley Seeley, Maddie Woodburn and Bloomquist (11:55.83). They had 2nds from Miya Lane the 100 (13.5) and 200 (28.26), Hollander the 400 (1:09.79), the 1600 meter medley made up by Lucy Kuehl, Addi ferrel, Kayla Reinier and Rowan Terrell (5:16.8) along with the 4 by 400 of Willow Larsen, Terrell, Hollander and Seeley (4:53.28).
Fairfield 7th grade boys finished 3rd of 7 in the 7th grade boys Southeast Conference competition at Mount Pleasant scoring 89. Leading the way with first place performances were Kaden Cook the discus (98-8), Tallon Bates the long jump (16-6), the 4 by 800 of Craig Miller, Ben Boatright, Tristan McBride and Brady McWhirter (10:40.58), the 4 by 400 of Carter Stark, McWhirter, Boatright and Bates (4:33) plus the 800 meter medley made up by Tam Khong, Bode Hoskins, Stark and Miller (2:05.31). Mount Pleasant was the champion with 153 points and 2nd place Burlington had 95.
The Fairfield 8th grade boys were 4th of 7 during the Conference meet in Mount Pleasant Monday totaling 59 points. Wins included Gavin VanVeen the 1600 (5:06.76) and the 4 by 400 of Ryan Higgins, Aiden Lyons, Isaac Harris and VanVeen (4:10.15). adding a 2nd was the 1600 meter medley featuring Tate Richardson, Dallen Rippey, Tate Allen and VanVeen (4:22.74). Washington won the title scoring 160, Mount Pleasant ended up 2nd with 129 and Ottumwa was 3rd at 117.
