Saturday 10 athletes from Fairfield (pictured front row left to right: Brady McWhirter, Landon Nodruft, Aiden Kreuter, Tam Khong. Second row, L-R: Gavin Van Veen, Tallon Bates, Carter Stark, Craig Miller, Tristan McBride and Ryan Higgins) competed in the Mike Henderson middle school state track meet at Ames. Highlights included the 7th grade 4 by 200 finishing 3rd with Craig Miller, Brady McWhirter, Tristan McBride and Tallon Bates. The 7th grade 4 by 400 featuring Aiden Kreuter, Carter Stark, McWhirter and Bates took 5th. They had a 6th from the 7th grade distance medley made up by Tam Khong, Landon Nodruft, Kreuter and Stark. 8th grader Gavin VanVeen was 7th in the 1600 meter run. Ryan Higgins of the 8th grade ended up 10th in the 400 meters.
Coaches Jay Thompson and Mark Eberly were very proud of their efforts, noting the boys competed at Washington Friday and have the conference meet today. The state competition is not divided into classes meaning Fairfield went up against many big schools.
