Fairfield 1st In Southeast Conference Girls Tennis Competition

The Fairfield varsity girls tennis team took 8 of 9 titles and ran away with a 4th straight Southeast Conference tournament championship at Fort Madison Monday. They swept the doubles including Yana Gaskell and Nellie Higdon at one, Anatta Charoenkul and Abby Schaefer the 2 spot along with the number 3 players Tess Paton and Destiny Gridley. They were 1st at 1 through 3 singles featuring Gaskell, Charoenkul and Higdon, plus Paton at 5 and number 6 Gridley. Schaefer finished 2nd at number 4. The Trojans scored 26. Fort Madison ended up 2nd of 4 with 17.

Fairfield hosted the Southeast Conference varsity boys tennis tournament Monday. They had 2nds from number 4 Blake Holden and Brian Parcell the 5 spot in singles. Will Sheppard and Parcell took 2nd at number 3 doubles. Fort Madison won the championship with 20 points and 2nd place Mount Pleasant had 16. Fairfield was last of 4 totaling 7.
