Oskaloosa Boys Basketball Team Gets 1st Round Win At State

Oskaloosa rallied to beat Marion 51-49 in the Class 3A boys state basketball tournament Tuesday at Des Moines. They trailed 32-22 at halftime then had a 17-9 advantage during the 3rd quarter and 12-8 in the final period. Rian Yates scored 15, going 5 of 9 on 3 point field goals. Cole Henry provided 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Xavier Foster finished with 13 points, 9 boards and 7 blocks.

The 3rd seeded 17 and 5 Indians will face number 7 seed 17 and 6 Winterset in a semifinal game Thursday afternoon at 3:45. This opponent upset 2nd seeded Sergeant Bluff-Luton 59-54 on Tuesday. The other semifinal at 2 is featuring top seed 21 and 4 Norwalk against 24 and 0 number 4 seed Clear Lake. Norwalk ripped Ballard 81-39 and Clear Lake knocked off West Delaware 61-46 on Tuesday.
