IHCC Downed By SCC In Basketball

The number 12 Indian Hills Community College basketball team lost the Region 11 tournament championship game to 14th rated Southeastern 95-74 Saturday night at Ottumwa. The 27 and 4 Blackhawks visit Williston State of North Dakota for the district final 7 Weds. night. That winner automatically qualifies for the NJCAA Division One national tournament the week of March 18th at Hutchinson, Kansas.

The 26 and 6 Warriors could get an at large spot for the national competition when the field is announced March 11th. They fell behind 14-0 Saturday, not scoring until a 3 point play with 15:35 left in the first half. Down 41-26, IHCC rallied and got within 41-34 at about the one minute mark but it was 47-34 at the break. The closest they got after that was 9, the last time at 60-51. The biggest deficit was 26 with less than 4 minutes remaining. SCC took 2 of 3 from the Warriors this season after dropping 12 straight in the series.
