Ottumwa Swept By Mason City In Baseball

The Ottumwa varsity baseball team dropped 7-3 and 4-1 games to Mason City on the University of Iowa Duane Banks field at Iowa City Monday. They totaled 9 hits during the doubleheader. Dillon Berg finished 2 of 5 including a triple and drove in 2 runs. Tyler Ward ripped a triple. Joey Mitchell and Mitch Wood each contributed a double.

Starter Jaylan Jones pitched 4 innings of the opener, had 2 strikeouts, allow3ed 8 hits, 5 runs, 4 of them earned and was charged with the loss. Christian Howard worked 2 innings, gave up 3 hits and 2 unearned runs. Treyton Larkin threw one inning, fanned a batter and allowed 2 hits. Jarhett VanEngelenhoven went the initial 5 innings the 2nd game, giving up 5 the hits, 4 runs including 2 earned and took the loss. Jarrett Blunt pitched one inning and had 2 strikeouts.
