The Fairfield varsity baseball team swept a Southeast Conference doubleheader with Mount Pleasant Tuesday. They pulled out the first game 4-2. Austin Simpson (pictured) paced the 5 hit offense finishing 2 of 3 including a homer and drove in 3 runs. Noah Stone was 1 of 1, ripping a double. Starter Cade Lisk (first picture below) pitched 6 innings, totaled 7 strikeouts, allowed the 7 hits and 2 unearned runs. Jimmy Kurka fanned 3 batters during the top of the 7th and picked up a save. Mount Pleasant left 14 runners on base.
Fairfield then racked up a 6 inning 11-1 victory. Lisk went 2 of 3. Tristin Waugh (2nd picture below) ended up 2 of 4, blasted a homer and drove in 3 runs. Kurka was 2 of 4 with 2 runs batted in. Simpson finished 1 of 2, nailing another round tripper. Hunter Hoskins went 1 of 2. nGraham Kuehl pitched the complete game, fanned 4 batters and gave up 5 hits.
The Trojans top the league at the halfway point with a 7 and 1 record, just ahead of 6 and 2 Washington. Mount Pleasant is now 5 and 3.
