The Fairfield varsity baseball team racked up a 4 inning 16-1 Class 3A district first round home win against Fort Madison Friday night. Cam Baumann paced the 11 hit attack going 3 of 4 including a homer, a triple, drove in runs and crossed the plate twice. Austin Simpson went 2 of 2, nailed a double and had 3 runs batted in. Cole Engle was 2 of 2 and scored 2 times. James Lyman finished 1 of 1 with a double and drove in 2 runs. Cade Lisk went 1 of 1. Brandon Smithburg ended up 1 of 2, drilled a triple and provided 3 runs batted in. Hunter Hoskins was 1 of 2 and scored twice.
Starter Lisk got the victory throwing 3 innings, totaled 5 strieouts, allowed the run and one hit. Jimmy Kruka worked the 4th and fanned a batter.
Also on Friday, Keokuk upset Southeast Conference champion Mount Pleasant 7-6 earlier in Fairfield.
2nd rated Davenport Assumption took a 6 inning 11-1 game with West Liberty
