A special meeting of the Fairfield City Council was held Thursday to meet with representatives of the IowaArchitectural Foundation. Councilors heard a presentation from the Foundation, offering suggestions on signage and wayfinding. New west and east city entrance signage, imagery on iconic rural structures and bridges, and signage and imagery for the trail system and the square were among the suggestions. The foundation called the community of Fairfield a dynamic, robust and engaged community that has created a diverse profile, attracting a national audience. A Wayfinding commission will be set up to follow up on suggestions from the foundation and will interact with the Council and tourism based organizations within the community to put some of the suggestions into practice.
