Fair Board Reports A Successful Fair

The Greater Jefferson County Fair Board convened Monday morning at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, for their annual meeting, reporting another successful Fair. Board Chair, Steve Fritchen , presided over the meeting, as the Board pointed out improvements to the Fairgrounds over last year, calling the Cambridge Learning Building “…a welcome addition” as well as the addition of portable bleachers and the addition of speakers as the board continues to make improvements to the sound system.
There was an emotional moment, as 33 year Board veteran, Denny Thomes, resigned, and the Board recognized his son, Louie, as his replacement to fill the remaining year of his term.
The Board reported a total gross of $40,201, of which, after bills are paid, the Board figured to net approximately half. Plans are already in the works for next year’s Fair, scheduled for June 27th through July 2nd, 2018.
