A Friday morning fire in the 700 block of Wabash Street in Ottumwa has law enforcement officers, Fire officials and the Wapello County Attorney’s office investigating. Firefighters responded to a call at approximately 5:15 Friday morning on a report that someone was on the roof of the burning home and another person was covered in gasoline.
Two people were inside the home at the time the fire started and were able to escape injury. The person on the roof of the home was injured and was transported to Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Law enforcement officials believe the fire was deliberately set and a suspect has been identified, though, no information has been released.
